As soon as you find redness or burning sensation, immediately go into the shade or cover the damaged area with clothing. To slow down the development of the inflammatory process, cool the skin with a cold compress: this can be a towel moistened with fresh water, aloe gel (or the juice of the plant itself), or any cooling lotion (the main thing is not alcohol-based). You can also take a cold bath (strong shower jets can harm already injured skin), but without using soap or gel — they will irritate.
Apply a cream with panthenol, aloe extract or any other soothing ingredient to the burned area to moisturize the skin. It is better to refuse from oil-based products — they will create a greasy film on the skin, which will prevent moisture from evaporating and intensify inflammation (this also applies to the well-known folk remedy — sour cream). After getting sunburn, the body suffers from dehydration, so you need to drink more fluids: water or green tea. This will speed up tissue regeneration and cleanse the body of toxins. Do not wear tight clothing after being burned: the fabric will irritate damaged skin and may cause secondary infection. The best solution for the treatment period will be loose dresses or a fashionable «pajama» suit made of natural fabrics that allow the skin to breathe — for example, cotton or linen.
