Apple dumplings recipe

To cook this apple dessert you will need these ingredients: 700 grams of medium sized apples; 100 grams of strawberry jam; 1 cup of flour; 50 grams of butter; 100 grams of icing sugar; 1 egg and 2 yolks; 2 tablespoons of cream; 1 tablespoon of rum or cognac for flavour.

Directions:

1. Peel apples and remove the inner part, then fill them with jam.

2. Pour flour into a bowl, add chopped butter, cream, yolks, rum, and icing sugar. Mix everything untill you get a dough and then refrigerate it for an hour.

3. Roll the dough into a layer no more than 0.5 cm, and then cut it in a form of rhombuses.

5. Put a prepared apple on each piece of dough, then put together the edges of the dough over the apple and squeeze so that it reminds in it’s shape a knotted handkerchief.

6. Lay parchment or foil on a greased baking sheet, carefully lay out the apples in pastry, grease them on top with a beaten egg and bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees.

7. When ready put the apples wrapped in pastry onto plates and sprinkle with icing sugar.
